Moving down from Rawalpindi/Islamabad, you come across the ancient trade post to
China, Gilgit located 600km away from Rawalpindi/Islamabad. You can get here either by KKH
or by PIA air flights.
REGION/HISTORY
Gilgit was the ancient trading post to China, whose bustling bazaars was the
Caravan Srai for many of the traders of silk route, with the opening of the KKH, which
leads to China, the trade has increased and the tourists swell Gilgit every year. Gilgit
was also the commanding post for the British rulers during the British rule. After
Pakistan's independence, the brave people of Gilgit all by themselves overthrew the Dogra
raj(rule) and thus became independent joining themselves to Pakistan. Gilgit is now the
center of trade between Pakistan and China, every load of goods either coming
from China

Buddha show that once Gilgit was under the influence of Buddhism. You can visit the total
lush green valley of Naltar. It is like a picture of heaven among the gigantic
mountains.
You can enjoy the pure water running down from springs that originate from the glaciers.
Gilgit is quite warm during the day and cool during the nights so one does not even need
